In shortPensions are expected to rise in 2027 by about 2.6% to 2.7%, and by up to 3% in the favourable scenario. The final rate will depend on inflation.
How the rate is worked out
The increase is the average of economic growth (GDP) and inflation. With growth at around 2%, the higher inflation turns out, the larger the increase:
- Inflation 3.3%: increase 2.65%.
- Inflation 3.5%: increase 2.75%.
- Inflation 4%: increase 3%.
For comparison, in 2025 the increase was 2.4%.
What it means in euros
| Pension today | Increase per month (approx.) |
|---|---|
| 600 € | +16 € |
| 1.400 € | +37 € |
| 2.000 € | +52 € |
| €2,700 and above | +70 € |
The average pension is expected to rise from €975 to about €1,000, and the national pension to €458.48.
Who will see it
- Existing pensioners (retired before 13/5/2016).
- New pensioners (retired from 13/5/2016 onwards).
- Those with a "personal difference": the mechanism is being abolished, so they will receive the increase too.
- Those waiting for a pension with a start date up to 31/12/2026.
It is not paid to those receiving a provisional or advance pension, until the final decision is issued.
