EFKA has corrected an old interpretation. Those whose application for notional insurance years was rejected solely because they did not have 3,600 days of insurance can ask for it to be examined again.
What notional insurance years are
They are periods when you did not work, but which the law allows to count as insurance. This way you complete the years you need for retirement sooner.
What has changed
Until now many applications were rejected on the grounds that the insured person first had to have 3,600 days (12 years) of actual insurance. EFKA has clarified that this does not apply to everyone.
Who does not need the 3,600 days
- Newer insured persons (after 1993) retiring with 4,500 days
- Mothers and widowed fathers of children with disabilities
- Men in arduous and unhealthy occupations
- Construction workers
- Local government employees
- Actors, musicians, dancers
- Olympic Airways employees
For the remaining categories the 3,600-day threshold continues to apply.
Which periods are recognised
- Military service
- Studies and training
- Time for children
- Unemployment, subsidised sickness, pregnancy and maternity
- Gaps in insurance and apprenticeship
What a successful applicant gains
If the old application is finally accepted, the pension counts from the first month after the original application. In other words, back payments may also arise.
How we help you
We look at the rejection decision, check whether you belong to the categories that qualify and file the request for re-examination ourselves. We also calculate whether a buy-back is worth it for you before you pay anything.
